- Students will effectively communicate mathematical ideas.

### Applied Mathematical Science – Statistics, M.S.

- Students will be able to discuss statistical issues with researchers who may not be specialists in statistics.
- Students will formulate research problems from other fields in statistical terms.
- Students will choose appropriate statistical models and methods to analyze data.
- Students will communicate statistical ideas orally and in writing.
- Students will engage in a research project with a faculty mentor.
- Students, prior to graduating, will demonstrate breath of knowledge in a comprehensive exam.

### Applied Mathematical Science – Teaching, M.S.

- Students will be able to apply pedagogical and mathematics content knowledge to the creation of unit of study for secondary mathematics.
- Students will be able to create an appropriate post-test instrument to assess student learning.
- Students will be able to align assessment with learning goals.
- Students will be able to prepare and present a secondary mathematics lesson.
- Students will engage in a research project with a faculty mentor.
- Students, prior to graduating, will demonstrate breath of knowledge in a comprehensive exam.
